Did you ever wonder where the @ came from?



Ray Tomlinson is the father of the @ sign for "computer to computer" exchange.  Created in the early 1970's and used on the APPANET (the precursor to the internet), the @ sign has conquered the world in all language.  It may be called different things in English, Dutch or French but it is universal.  Ray Tomlinson died early in March and the Economist did a story about the history of @ and how it fits in with the history of punctuation.  Don't P@nic
