Effective decision making is about basically one thing

Businesses run on decisions, should we discount this sale? Do I need to hire a new person?  What should the new product portfolio be?  And the role of management is to make those decisions but in many organisations, managers are bottlenecks to getting answers and establishing the right direction.  If management is the problem in making decisions what should we do about management?  Ted Bauer has some ideas in his article.  Including the concept of avoiding "decision debt" which is defined as

"It means that a leader spends so much time on details around decisions, often in the form of micromanagement, that they created this massive pile of time debt. Nothing is really getting done. Decisions aren’t being made"
